Which length suits you best?
Few would disagree that the ponytail is one of the most versatile hairstyles out there. A low ponytail, especially, is sophisticated, low maintenance, and can be styled to match any face shape. What's more, low ponytails can be worn whether your hair is long or short. The question is, which length do you prefer of the two? Vote for your favorite low-slung style, above!
When your hair is long, chances are you'll want to tie it back out of your face at some point or another. When that time comes, skip the topknot and go straight for a low ponytail. The look is laidback, relaxed, and appropriate whether you're at the office or the beach. And even though this style looks casual and quick, it can also give off an elegant silhouette when tied back in a polished way. Best of all, a long, low ponytail works in nearly all settings-casual or smart-and can be easily jazzed up with an accessory, such as a long ribbon bow for a romantic touch.
Who says you can't rock a low ponytail with short hair? You totally can! In fact, a shorter low ponytail gives off a sharp, contemporary edge. It's a different look entirely from the ethereal, longer ponytail but is equally chic (in our humble opinion). If you have a short bob, remember to incorporate bobby pins or clips to help secure flyaways that aren't long enough to make it to the elastic band. A few spritzes of shine spray around the hairline-like L'Oreal Professionnel Tecni.Art Shower Shine-can be the perfect finishing touch.
Top tip: To cover up the elastic, wrap a piece of your own hair around the ponytail's base for a modern look. You can also opt to wrap ribbon, string or lacing to add texture and/or color.
