Color Trend: Tiger Eye Haircolor

A gemstone-inspired hue.

If you're looking for a way to change up your 'do for the New Year, might we suggest the haircolor everyone's been talking about? The "Tiger Eye" is way more than just a gemstone. It's also the latest trend in color, and lucky for you – it looks amazing on everyone! "I am obsessed with the trend. It isn't super crazy, just soft, beautiful, and effortlessly chic." shares haircolor expert and L'Oréal Professionnel Artist Brooke Evans. To learn more about this trending color and why it's so perfect for the the New Year, keep reading!

Get the Look: Tiger Eye

"Tiger Eye haircolor is a perfect haircolor to transition from a fall blonde or brunette into something richer and darker for winter," explains Evans. What makes this haircolor so perfect for the New Year? It's meaning, of course! "Tiger Eye is a gemstone that is believed to have healing properties," she says. "So it's a perfect look to start the New Year with!" No wonder it's so hot right now!

The haircolor is achieved by blending warm and rich browns with subtle touches of gold and soft coppers. "This creates a seamlessly soft and low maintenance look," Evans explains. "You should expect to be warmer, richer, and overall darker but with soft babylights or balayage throughout."

Because of this blend of brown, blonde, and red, Tiger Eye truly does complement everyone! "As with any haircolor your colorist can tailor this trend to your and your skin tone and eye color," she explains. "If you like warmth without brass in your hair, this is a great trend to try out." Evans suggests bringing along a few photos of the color to share with your hairdresser in order to achieve the look you're truly after.

Maintaining Tiger Eye Hair Color

Thanks to its use of blending, Evans explains that this is a pretty low maintenance haircolor-unless you're covering white hair at the root, which will require a six-week retouch. If the color is starting to lose its vibrancy but you're not due for a touch-up, book an appointment for a glaze or gloss treatment to give it a boost! Evans also stresses the importance of proper home care-urging you to use professional-quality haircare products that have been formulated for color-treated locks.
