These Are the Top Sizzling Hot Shades You're About to See Everywhere

Get ready for reds and oranges galore.

As much as we love an expertly-toned blonde, a beautifully accented blonde, or a bold rainbow shade, there's something to be said for hotter, statement-making reds and yellows. Take one look at the streetwear scene, commonly posted allover social media, and you'll see what we mean. Where natural and cool colors once reigned supreme, this season it's clear to see that sizzling shades are here to make a splash. To learn more about the seasonally hot shades, we tapped L'Oréal Professionnel stylist, Sebastian Langman-Kirtley. Here, we introduce you to the red and yellow colors you may want to consider, how to prep your hair for your transformation, and how to care for your new color-treated mane. Read along!

"This summer I think we will see a palette of lively and saturated sunshine and citron yellows," Langman-Kirtley says. "Attention grabbing shades of bright cherry and fire-glow red will be trending through the warmer months, as well."

Now that you know the shades, you might be wondering who they look best on. Langman- Kirtley says that vibrant red goes well with icy skin and also compliments deep olive tones; whereas pastel yellow looks great with fair to medium skin. Now, if you're thinking about going candy-colored yellow, it's best to pair it with darker skin, in which case you can even veer into neon hues.

Since bold yellow shades despite not being true blondes, are light enough for the potential to go brassy, Langman-Kirtley explains that hair needs to be pre-lightened, first. Be sure to ask for a Smartbond treatment to go along with your service – for strong and protected hair during lightening.

Once you've achieved the sizzling shade of your heart's desire, it's time to rethink your haircare routine. Since your hair can lose moisture and resilience post-coloring, Langman-Kirtley explains that keeping hair hydrated and strong is key when caring for bold colors. "In order to achieve brightness and clarity for red and yellow hair, pre-lightening is required which puts stress on the hair fiber," he explains" "To help repair that while maintaining your color, I recommend an anti-breakage shampoo and masque, like Serie Expert Inforcer. Also, in-salon treatments are beneficial between color appointments."

So, there you have it – the 4-1-1 on all things sizzling and seasonal. To help you determine which shade to embrace, try playing around with the colors on the new L'Oréal Professionnel Style My Hair app. There, you'll be able to find which color and cut will compliment your skin tone and face shape best to ensure that your new 'do is hot, hot, hot!
