Seeing Double: Double Buns vs. Double Braids

How to style double braids and double buns.

Double trouble.

As the beauty trends of the 90's come back with a vengeance, two hairstyles are leading the pack and causing us all to see double! No matter which style you pick, double buns or double braids, you'll be sure to turn heads. To find out how to style each of these trending looks, keep reading.

Get the Look: Double Buns

Double buns, worn high at the crown or low at the nape of the neck, add an instant playful vibe to this season's edgy fashions. To style, distribute Tecni.Art Volume Envy Extra through damp hair and allow your hair to dry naturally or rough dry using your blow-dryer's lowest setting. Use a long-tail comb to create a straight middle part and secure each section into high pigtails. Braid each ponytail and secure with a clear elastic. Roll up each braid, wrapping it around the base of each ponytail and securing with bobby pins. Pull at each bun with your fingers to shape it to your liking. Spray with a strong-hold hairspray to tame flyaways and to keep the buns in place all day!

Get the Look: Double Braids

More commonly known as cornrows, this double braided style is great for keeping your hair protected and in place whether you're out and about. To style, first use a long-tail comb and split your hair down the center and use a small amount of a wet-look spray to prepare hair for braiding. Starting at one side, create a flat top French braid and continue braiding down. Secure each braid with an elastic and tame flyaways with a strong-hold hairspray or a styling wax.
