Learn how to take the top hairstyles from the catwalk to the sidewalk.
As one of our favorite fictional fashionistas of all time once said, "Every year the women of New York leave the past behind and look forward to the future...this is known as Fashion Week." And anyone who's ever had the pleasure of filling the rows in some of the city's very best studios know this statement to be all too true. While it may seem a bit far in advance to be thinking about your autumn wardrobe, it's that forward-thinking nature that brings about serious style. For that reason, at NYFW FW18, we looked not only to the stellar stilettos and sequin-laden blazers, but the coifs that topped the looks off. While there were many unique hairstyles on the runway, two of our favorites were the low ponytail and curled updo. Versatile and easy to recreate, we imagine they'll be yours too.
To help you bring the catwalk to the sidewalk, we've broken down how to create the looks from the comfort of your own home. Simply stock up on the necessary L'Oréal Professionnel hair stylingproducts and follow the step-by-step tutorials below.
NYFW Look #1: Low Ponytail
Sure, you could just pull your hair back into a low, no-fuss pony, but when you take the time to make an extra effort, your streetwear hair style looks like a high-fashion masterpiece.
Here's how to get the look:
Step 1: Apply mousse. Distribute L'Oréal Professionnel Volume Envy Extra evenly throughout damp hair.
Step 2: Blowout your hair. Using a large round or paddle brush, blow-dry hair until smooth and sleek.
Step 3: Pull your hair into a low ponytail. Create a deep side part with a comb, gather hair at the nape of the neck into a low ponytail and secure with an elastic band.
Step 4: Hide your hair tie. Separate a small section of hair from the bottom of the ponytail, wrapit around the elastic and secure at the base.
Step 5: Add texture to your pony. Create loose curls in the hair of the ponytail with a Marcel Curling Iron, cool to set.
NYFW Look #2: Curled Updo
Updos have been known for their classic elegance for decades, but this modern take incorporates the sleekness of the season's wet hair trend for added allure.
Here's how to get the look:
Step 1: Help your hair put up a defense against frizz before styling. To prevent frizz from popping up mid-day, it's a good idea to prep smooth, brushed hair with a few spritzes of hairspray, like the L'Oréal Professionnel Infinium 4 .
Step 2: Curl your hair. Define curls with a Marcel Curling Ironor curling wand throughout the head, cool and pin to set.
Step 3: Relax your curls. Release pins and lightly comb out the curls for a less coiled look.
Step 4: Pin your curls in place to create your updo. Take a small section, twist it up, and pin it. Pin the sections in various directions to create a geometric pattern. Repeat until all of the curls have been pinned.
Step 5: Finish with a high-shine, strong-hold hairspray. Spray L'Oréal Professionnel Extreme Lacquer to finish and voilà!
Who knew looking like a model could be so achievable!
