A glam go-to for long locks.
Side-swept waves have long been a glamorous go-to for women with long, flowing hair. Asymmetrical, side-swept waves make for a high-fashion edge that can otherwise be difficult to achieve on longer locks.

Our stylists say anyone with hair below the shoulders can recreate this elegant style, which is perfect for a casual dinner, an art gallery opening, or even a black-tie event. "It's sophisticated," says L'Oréal Professionnel celebrity stylist Jennifer MacDougall, "and it makes a fashion-forward statement." This elegant style can be easily achieved by anyone with hair below the shoulder.
MacDougall recommends keeping a wet-look gel on hand if you're going to be experimenting with this look, which can be styled on both clean and second-day hair. Start by curling one- to two-inch sections from the cheekbones down to the ends (rather than curling all the way from up to the root) with a one-and-a-half-inch curling iron. Curl away from the face, MacDougall says, to achieve floaty, voluminous waves.
Using the arch in your eyebrow as a guide, make a deep side part with a metal-tail comb, then comb through the crown. Rub a quarter-size amount of wet-look gel or mousse between your palms and apply it to the shallow side of the part from the root/part-line, spreading down towards the ends. Then, using a fine-toothed comb, smooth that sleek side behind the opposite ear adding a few bobby pins at the nape of the neck to hold it in place. Finish with a soft-hold hairspray and hit the town.
For an elevated look, instead of bobby pins opt for an ornate barrette to secure your hair at the nape of your neck.
