How to Take Your Low Pony to a Chic New Level

Allow us to introduce you to the wrapped pony.

Whether you've woken up late, are heading to the gym, or simply just want to keep your hair out of your face, it's no secret why ponytails have become such a staple in all of our hair styling routines. But at what point does this classic look need a bit of an upgrade? While we will always love a no-fuss, free-falling ponytail, there's a new style on the block that has really caught our attention. Without further ado, allow us to introduce you to the wrapped pony.

Seen everywhere from the runways to the railway, this fashion-forward hairstyle maintains the functionality of the classic look while taking it up a notch with a little modern-aged style.

When it comes to ponytails, usually the only questions we ask ourselves are "high or low?" and "which color elastic?" But now we can add a new dilemma to the list: "how much tie are you willing to try?" As seen all across the world, wrapped ponies are the new haute couture hair style that we never knew we needed. What's more, while they made their debut on the catwalk, they are equally as suitable for the sidewalk.

How to Recreate the Look

Alongside an invisible elastic and a matte velvet ribbon (or your texture of choice), it's important to stock up on the right hair styling products, too.

First thing's first, you don't want any troublesome flyaways ruining your catwalk-inspired style, so rub a few drops of Mythic Oil's Huile Radiance into your palms and smooth down the lengths and tips of damp or dry hair. Then, use a flat paddle brush to detangle and make your hair super sleek before tying into a low pony using your clear elastic.

Tuck one end of your ribbon into the elastic and wrap around the base of the hair, then slowly wrap the ribbon (quite) tightly around and down the lengths, stopping ¾ of the way down. To fix in place, either tie and tuck with an elastic as you did before, or use a bobby pin to secure the end of the ribbon at the back of the ponytail. This way, the pin will fall against your neck/upper back and stay invisible.

Professional tip:Even if your hair feels secure, always finish a styled look with a hairspray, like L'Oréal Professionnel's Infinium 4 . This will not only provide glossy shine, but ensure your hair doesn't frizz or come loose over time. You won't regret it!
