Foods for Beautiful-Looking Hair

Eat up!

If the age-old adage is true and we truly are what we eat...well, it may be time to put down those leftover holiday cookies. As it turns out, healthy hair starts from within. So if you want to have your best-looking locks ever in the New Year, it's important to munch on healthy foods that are packed with vitamins and nutrients! Below we're sharing foods you should snack on now for beautiful-looking hair.

While water isn't necessarily a food you eat, it is certainly a necessary part of a well-rounded diet. Since dehydration can cause your hair to appear dull and lifeless, drinking a healthy amount of water each day can help to restore that luster we're all after. Pair this tip with a weekly hair mask and a hydrating haircare routine and your hair is bound to look luscious in no time!

Biotin-Rich Foods

It's no secret biotin is a vitamin most often associated with beautiful-looking hair and thankfully there are tons of yummy foods that are chocked full of it! This year leave some room on your plate for almonds, sweet potato, eggs, and tomatoes!

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

Another healthy option that may help you achieve the locks you're after are foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Foods like salmon, avocados, and flaxseeds are great choices when looking for omega-3 fatty acids. On the outside of your strands, reach for hair oils that can help to leave your hair looking shiny and feeling more manageable.

At the end of the day, our hair needs protein to look its best. Thankfully, there are lots of sources of protein available from animal proteins-red and white meat-to vegetarian protein-from beans, nuts, and lentils.

Just like the nutrients above, getting the recommended amount of iron is key if you want to have great-looking hair. Iron can be found in foods like beans, dark leafy greens like spinach and kale, and whole grains.

Remember: While eating well is important, it's also important to practice good hair habits and follow a regular haircare routine suited for your hair type and texture!
