Up your braid game.

The countdown to summer is almost in the single digits, and we can't wait for all of the outdoor BBQs and beach trips to come. What we're not looking forward to? The humid temps and frizz that ensues as a result. Luckily, there are hairstyles that can allow your mane to look polished and chic, despite Mother Nature. One in particular? Braids! If you're looking for some braid inspiration this summer, consider your search complete. We rounded up four beautiful braided looks that can add a creative edge to your 'do!

Double Dutch Braid

How do you keep your hair down and out of your face without resorting to the standard half-up, half-down look? With this double Dutch braid! It may look complicated, but a Dutch braid is very similar to a French braid, except that the sections are pulled underneath one another-not over.

Top tip: Before starting your braid, apply L'Oreal Professionnel Infinium 3 hairspray to help keep flyaways at bay. When you take out your braids at the end of the day, you'll likely be left with gorgeous beachy waves!

One-Sided Dutch Braid

Give your hair some edgy attitude with this unique contrasting look featuring super sleek hair on one side and a faux-shaved look using a tight Dutch braid on the other.

Top tip: L'Oréal Professionnel Dual Stylers Sleek & Swing styling cream will give your hair the glossy-looking finish that provides such a contrast to the braid. Run the product through damp hair before styling.

Braided Low Bun

This low braided bun is effortless, yet, incredibly chic. To get the look, start by tying your strands back into a low ponytail, securing it in place with a clear elastic. From there, crease a very loose, thick braid. Before reaching the end, curl your hair back underneath itself and tuck into the elastic behind the braid.

Top tip: For a natural-looking finish, wrap a separate small section of hair around the clear elastic.

Thin Braids

If braids aren't usually your thing, ease yourself into the trend with a few bohemian braids. One of the best parts about this style is that it's meant to look lived in with your natural texture, so don't worry about making them look clean and orderly.

Top tip: You may find better hold for your thin braids if your strands are a little dirty. If your hair is freshly washed, spritz some dry shampoo or dry finishing spray-like L'Oréal Professionnel Next Day Hair-to play up the disheveled hair look and add a little bit of texture.
