Easy updos for a hard day of work!
Getting ready for a day of work each morning can feel daunting. Between going through your morning skin care routine and putting on your makeup, by the time you get to picking out an outfit there's nearly no time left to style your hair. Instead of leaving the house looking disheveled, consider wearing your locks in a stylish and chic updo. We're sharing three easy updos you'll actually want to wear to work below!
A Low Ponytail
When you need to sweep your hair away from your face and look like you mean business, a ponytail is key! When styled the right way and worn at the nape of the neck, a ponytail can look chic and classy. What's more, its simplicity helps to bring the attention to the rest of your look. To style, you'll want to ensure your locks are frizz- and flyaway-free. Part your hair in the middle or down the side and brush back with a paddle brush to ensure a smooth style. Secure the length of your hair in a low ponytail at the nape of your neck after you're sure that all the bumps are gone. If you have any flyaways that need taming, use a small amount of wax or pomade and you're ready to go! If you have extra time to style your hair, try this Twist and Knot tutorial!
A Top Knot
If you want a more whimsical, fun, and flirty look, try a top knot. Expert hairdresser and L'Oréal Pro Artist Pepper Pastor says that positioning the high bun in a place that suits your face shape is of utmost importance when styling. "I think most people do this naturally by choosing the spot on top of their head that they feel most comfortable with," she says. The goal here is to find a spot near the top of your head that feels both comfortable and secure, and looks symmetrical. To style a perfect top knot follow the six simple steps we outline here.
A Chic Chignon
For a truly important meeting you'll need a style that screams classy and a chic chignon is exactly what you're after. While the top knot is a bun worn high at the top of the head, a chignon is worn at the center, just above the nape of the neck. To style, use a product like L'Oréal Professionnel's True Grip to help to keep the style in place all day long. Gather your hair together and secure it all at the center of the back of your head with an elastic. Twist the length and wrap it around the base of the ponytail you just tied. Use bobby pins to keep strands in place and then gently pull on the bun to separate and loosen the hair for your desired shape. Finish by using a product, like L'Oréal Professionnel's Lumi Controle, to tame flyaways around the crown.
